Peregrine Intelligence ("we", "our", "us") operates the Peregrine mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Peregrine is designed with a privacy-first approach. We collect minimal data:

• Push Notification Tokens: If you enable push notifications, your device provides a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token. This token is used solely to deliver notifications to your device. It is not linked to your identity.
• User Preferences: Your app settings (such as preferred data layers, language, and display options) are stored locally on your device using the browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, or location.
• We do not require you to create an account.
• We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting technologies.
• We do not collect usage data, browsing history, or behavioural data.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or any other device sensors.

3. How We Use Information

• FCM Tokens: Used exclusively to send you push notifications about geopolitical events, if you have opted in. You can disable notifications at any time through your device settings.
• Local Preferences: Used to personalise your experience within the App. This data is processed entirely on your device.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise share your data with third parties. The only external services involved are:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google): Processes push notification delivery. Google's privacy policy applies to FCM token handling. No personal data is shared beyond the device token.
• Data APIs: The App fetches publicly available data from sources such as GDELT, ACLED, USGS, NASA, FCDO, and ReliefWeb. These requests are made through our backend proxy and do not transmit any user-identifying information.

5. Data Storage and Security

• User preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to any server.
• FCM tokens are stored securely on our backend infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers) and are used only for notification delivery.
• All network communication between the App and our backend uses HTTPS encryption.

6. Your Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws, you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data. Since we only store FCM tokens (if notifications are enabled), you can delete this by disabling push notifications, which removes your token from our system.
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Objection: Object to any processing of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
